I now can confirm I have a voice inside my head.
And that voice is Don Emero.
Creating the audio book for Star Runners has been an incredible process.
Before this process, I had only one other person ever read my work aloud. My best friend in college (the greatest writer I have ever been fortunate enough to call a friend) read a short story of mine after it won a place in a creative writing competition. I remember being quite nervous as he read my words. Were they good enough? What did people think? I remember thinking he was making it sound better than my actual words.
It doesn’t happen often, but I had the chance to relive history.
From the first auditions to the final book, I have continuously been wowed at the talent Don brought to the table. Since this is the first time I have ever heard the words I had written recorded in this format, I spent many an hour reviewing the Star Runners’ audio book and staring off into space. Don’s professional and passionate work had me daydreaming. I found myself wanting the story to be true. Where was my recruitment visit from Jonathan Nubern? I want to fly a Trident!
Alas, I will have to settle for flying the Trident of my mind and sitting behind a keyboard. You know what? That is perfectly fine with me.
If you would like to try a sample of Don’s masterful work, please find it a audible.com.
Thank you for all of you work, Don!
